How does this work?
On the 1st of each month from April to the end of June, we will announce a new writing prompt. At the end of each month, submissions for that prompt will close and a new prompt will begin. You may write a full short story, or even just a scene! Have fun with our characters and go wild with non-canon shenanigans, as long as they adhere to the page limit and format requirements.We will be selecting 3 stories from each round to be read during our livestream.
When is the last day to submit?
Writing Prompt #1 - April 30th, 2022 at 11:59pm EST
Writing Prompt #2 - May 31st, 2022 at 11:59pm EST
Writing Prompt #3 - June 30th, 2022 at 11:59pm EST
How long can my fan fiction be?
2.5 – 3 pages in 12 Times New Roman font
Is there a standard format for fan fiction submissions?
Please include the Title of your story, author name (Pseudonym OK), and Social Media Handle (not required) centered at the top of Page 1.
Please label your file with the following naming convention: WritingPrompt#X_TitleOfStory_AuthorFullName. You are required to tell us your real name in the filename and submission form, but you may request for us to use a pseudonym or to remain anonymous if we read your story during the livestream.
What content is NOT allowed?
Please keep your story PG-13. While you can be suggestive and a little spicy, stories with explicit sexual content will not be considered. Racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and any hatred towards marginalized communities will not be tolerated and will not be considered.
What if I already submitted a story last year?
Don’t worry! You’re still in the running! Those who submitted in 2021 are considered Round 1, and selected winning stories from that round will be read first on the livestream.
Can I submit more than one piece of fan fiction?
Sure! However we will only select one story per author.
Will you accept entries via Tumblr, Instagram, or FaceBook posts?
We are only accepting entries through the Google Survey link via www.DeathByDyingPod.com/FanFiction
Can I write a crossover with another podcast, TV show, movie, etc?
Original stories using Death by Dying characters only are encouraged, but if you have a crossover please indicate what piece of media you are crossing-over with.
If I've already posted DBD fan fiction online, can I submit it?
Of course! As long as they adhere to the submission guidelines and format.
Where will the livestream take place?
On our Death by Dying Youtube! A link will be provided on our website and on all social media platforms.
